When thinking of strong women to feature in our #PinkRedefined campaign we immediately thought of long time ASRX Athlete, Camzin Martin. She has been a part of the CrossFit community since she was a kid, and although she is still very young her career is very established. Camzin recently had her first child, but that did not slow her down at all. Camzin continues to compete and lift crazy amounts of weight on a daily basis.
We asked her some questions about strong women and this is what she had to say...
1. What do you think CrossFit has done to change the the public's view on beauty?
I think being capable is now linked to being beautiful. What we can do , and bodies that reflect capability, are regarded more highly now than they have before. The ethic "strong is beautiful" is one that is becoming more and more accepted. We are seeing fewer stick thin mannequins in stores, and instead seeing some with muscle tone. I think that's exciting.
2. What changes have you personally seen in females who have started CrossFitting at your gym?
Other than becoming more muscular and physically powerful, I have seen women become more assertive and confident in themselves. We are doing something that society, and perhaps ourselves, never thought possible. Breaking that boundary is empowering.
3. What do you think the future holds for young females that are getting into CrossFit?
I think growing up breaking boundaries will create a generation that thinks outside of the box. I think this generation will redefine the glass ceiling, redefine what it means to be a mom, a professional woman, a woman. I'm excited to see what they become.
4. What goals do you have personally when it comes to changing the public's view on women?
I would like to see motherhood redefined. So often when women become mothers they are seen as suddenly frail, I would like to see mothers be seen as I see them, powerful. Bringing a child into the world is an amazing feat, it makes you stronger if anything.
5. Who is a female that inspires you and why?
I am really inspired by my mom, she worked full time and studied full time while raising two kids to bring us to the states and give us a better life. I could not be more grateful.
